Facing Fear

S3E6 - How Can We Make the World More Inclusive? (Tajha Ilerant, Special Olympics Global Messenger and Florida Athlete of the Year)

Sara McInerney Season 3

"If everyone in the world experienced inclusion, we wouldn’t have as many problems as we see today, such as racism." Tajha and I open our conversation with a short piece she wrote for Special Olympics social media drawing the connection between inclusion and racism.

Tajha’s childhood was one filled with hardship. It wasn’t until she heard the inspiring words of Loretta Claiborne that she discovered her passion for public speaking and the power of her voice.

In this interview, Tajha and I share serious conversation, fears, goals, laughter, excitement and I even had to pause to take a few deep breaths after being blown away by her words. She's an energetic young woman who is an Inclusive Youth Leader, U.S. Youth Ambassador, Global Ambassador and the 2019 Southwest Florida Female Athlete of the Year.

Please watch the mini documentary Special Olympics produced about her here.
